Vestry Meeting Minutes
August 11, 2008
In attendance: Father Darius, Chris Cassidy, Jennifer Dean, Victor Fredette, Barbara Krueger, Kevin Mahony, Chris McCarthy, Annie Mellet, John Robinson, Duane Wilcox and Michelle Wills.
Excused: Mother Ginny Ogden and Gail Richardson
Opening Prayer and Scripture Reflection: Matthew 15:21-28
July 21, 2008 minutes were reviewed and accepted.
Father Darius formally tendered his resignation. Victor Fredette motioned and Kevin Mahony seconded to accept Father Darius’ resignation. All present were in favor, some reluctantly so.
Finance - July 2008 Financial Reports were distributed and reviewed. Anne Mellet also distributed a report about the Dedicated Fund, dated Aug. 11, 2008, which showed the money received from bequests in the past year. These were undesignated gifts, and as such, should be used to pay down any outstanding debts. Anne recommended that $10,000 be sent to M&T Bank to pay down the principal on the building addition mortgage. Victor F. moved and Kevin M. seconded this motion. All present were in favor.
Ministry Team Update – Gail recommends that we host a breakfast between services for Homecoming Sunday. We’re looking for a new name for this, please email suggestions to her.
Stewardship – There will be a stewardship campaign in October to be led by the wardens and vestry. It will be an Evergreen letter writing campaign.
Christian Ed – The BLAST program needs support.
Outreach – The Appalachian Mission Trip members gave a presentation during church, which was great. The Women’s group may begin meeting monthly.
Buildings & Grounds – Victor received 3 quotes on replacing the roof at the rectory. Star Roofing submitted the middle priced estimate and included replacing the gutters with seamless gutters, as well as the new roof. Victor recommended using Star Roofing to do the work. Anne M. moved and John Robinson seconded to accept the roofing proposal of Star Roofing.
Search for a New Rector – We reviewed the coming work needed to be undertaken during the search for a new rector.
The next meeting is at 7:00 p.m.
