Vestry Meeting Minutes
March 10, 2008

In attendance: Father Darius, Chris Cassidy, Jennifer Dean, Barbara Krueger, Annie Mellet, Gail Richardson, and Duane Wilcox.

Excused: Mother Ginny Ogden, Victor Fredette, Kevin Mahony, Chris McCarthy, and John Robinson

Opening Prayer and Scripture Reflection: Philippians 2:5-11. This reading is always the epistle for Palm Sunday.

February 18, 2008 minutes were reviewed and accepted.

Vestry Retreat – We will possibly use a Nooma video to foster discussion during the retreat. Father Darius has looked into this; will bring them to the retreat scheduled for March 28th and 29th.

We also reviewed a draft letter from St. Stephen’s leaders to BCHS Superintendent Les Loomis regarding the decision by BCHS to cut two varsity athletes form Varsity teams because of their commitment to mission service over the Spring Break. Anne Mellet moved, and Barbara Krueger seconded the motion, to deliver the letter as is; or amend it as needed if the situation changes. All present were in favor.

The vestry commissioning will be March 30, 2008 at both services.

Ministry Team Update – Buildings and Grounds has requested money for grass seed and fertilizer. Father Darius spoke about how the ministry teams have been functioning.

Capital Campaign Update - $5,950 has been received that is dedicated to the repayment of the mortgage. This amount plus cash on hand, will allow us to send $20,000 total to the prepayment of the principal on the mortgage.

Finance – Financial reports for February 2008 were distributed and reviewed. We have a positive balance in the Operating Fund for the month. Carol Smith has begun working as the new Treasurer.

The next meeting is April 21, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.
